Rebels get Caught in the Storm

Essex Rebels were back in action this Sunday after a week off over the Easter period, hosting the in form Hemel Storm. 

In their last match up, Rebels came away with a 3 point win on the road. 

The game started with high tempo from both teams, and the intensity was alive in the arena. Hemel edged the 1st quarter 17 – 20 and Rebels had some work to do.

The 2nd quarter saw some unfamiliar sloppy offensive play by the Rebels which gave Hemel some easy baskets in transition. The game began to open up with Hemel taking a halftime lead 34 – 45.

Essex coach Ross Norfolk, rallied the rebels and they came out firing in the 3rd quarter. Ethan Price, Lee Hodges and Sam Newman started to ignite the Rebels offence with added effort defensively. This allowed Essex to win the quarter by 10 points, 24 – 14. 

Essex needed to step up the pressure and begin to execute their plays in the hall court. The Rebels chipped away at the quarter taking the small advantages they had. Half way through the final stanza Essex saw themselves take the lead by 1, but their offence started to dry up.

Hemel were able to with stand the pressure and began to finish strong. Essex were unable to hold out and the storm iced out the game with a final score of 69 – 75.

Rebels were led by Ethan Price with 22 points and followed closely by Sam Newman with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Essex now look to complete their regular season by finishing with a double header next weekend where they travel to Reading Rockets on Saturday and host Solent Kestrels on Sunday
