Megan Haines Wins 2023/2024 Most Improved Player Award in the Women’s British Basketball League
Megan Haines has been named the Women’s British Basketball League Most Improved Player (MIP) of the 2023/2024 season.
Megan has had an outstanding campaign wearing the Essex Rebels uniform this season and has been a big part of the club’s overall success, including reaching the first ever major final in the programme’s history. The Rebels point guard, who has played in Essex for the past three years, averaged 9.7 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game, in 27 minutes of play, throughout the regular season.
The third-year Sports Therapy undergrad has also had her first senior GB appearance in November 2023 as the GB Women’s Basketball Team played against Estonia and Sweden in the Women’s EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.
Megan Haines is delighted on winning Most Improved Player of the Year commenting:
I am very honoured to receive the Most Improved Player of the year award, as I have worked very hard to improve certain aspects of my game this year and really do appreciate the acknowledgment from coaches and team captains throughout the league in voting for me – thank you to all!
Haines has notably improved her field goal accuracy, boosting her percentages by 10% compared to last season. Moreover, her performance across all statistics has shown improvement compared to the 2022/2023 season.

Megan has always shown great promise whilst wearing the Rebels uniform and credit must go to her teammates and coaches that her helped her reach this point.
