GAME PREVIEW: Rebels Face Key Super League Basketball match-up on Community Day

This Saturday, 12 April, the Essex Rebels Women’s Basketball team return to the Essex Sport Arena for their final themed home game of the 2024/25 season — and it’s a big one. As part of our Community Day Special, the Rebels face off against the Caledonia Gladiators in a crucial matchup with playoff implications.

At 4pm, the Rebels will face the Caledonia Gladiators as the 2024/25 regular season rapidly approaches its end. The Rebels currently sit in sixth place in the Super League Basketball (SLB Women) Championship standings with an 8–8 record and three games remaining. They’re coming off an 83–74 win over the London Lions, where Taylor O’Brien led the way with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. She was supported by Maria Blazejewski, who added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Brooke Flowers, who finished with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

The Caledonia Gladiators sit just above the Rebels in fifth place with an 11–6 record. They’re coming off an 84–64 win over the Leicester Riders, where Delaynie Bryne put in a dominant performance with 27 points and 18 rebounds.

With their playoff spot still unconfirmed, the Rebels will be determined to secure a win this weekend and strengthen their position. Meanwhile, the Gladiators will be aiming to improve their playoff seeding as they remain within reach of the second, third, and fourth seeds.
