COVID-19 update
Dear members,
Essex Rebels Junior Basketball Club provides the following update on the club’s activities.
Further to my previous update, the University of Essex has advised the club that, following close consultation with Public Health England and Essex County Council, and as part of the University’s commitment to managing COVID-19 on its campuses, it has elected to close all its sports facilities to external hirers.
The restriction is temporary and is scheduled for review in November 2020.
So, how does this restriction affect the club?
Well, as a consequence of the new restriction, all club activities will remain suspended until further notice.
The club’s management team is actively exploring alternative, COVID-compliant venues (sports facilities that have optimal infection control measures in place) to host the club’s activities in the interim. Further updates on this front will be issued as, and when, progress is made.
In the meantime, and as a result of the above, all payment collections (of the monthly Participation Fee)
have been suspended until further notice.
Once again, I appreciate the developments in this update will be frustrating for many. However, it is
important to remind ourselves that, we are living through a world crisis; the likes of which hasn’t been
seen in a century. To this end, and on behalf of the club’s management team, I would like to say thank
you. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding during these challenging times.
We will continue to monitor external events closely and update the membership as appropriate. Thank
you.
Kindest regards
Rob Angira
Club Director
