Our vision is to grow our Essex Rebels family to enhance lives and become the UK’s leading basketball programme.

We’re different. Curious, brave and bold, we’re committed to exploring new ways of thinking and to pushing boundaries.

Our programme has grown rapidly since its inception in 2014, and now encompasses a complete pathway from schools engagement, children’s activities, a junior club and academy, University of Essex scholarships, through to our senior women’s and men’s professional teams.

We’re committed to excellence, but our focus is on the individual, through our dual-career pathway, enabling young people to achieve their full potential in sport, and in life.

What makes The Essex Rebels special?

Community

We aim to enhance lives by making a positive impact on the wider community. Our community-focused activities engage children and young people and inspire them to achieve their full potential in sport and in life.

Outreach

We aim to inspire children and young people to achieve their full potential, by offering a full pathway, linking sporting achievement and academic attainment. Each child’s journey has to start somewhere with a first bounce of the ball, and Essex Rebels offer a range of engagement activities that present that first opportunity to take a step on that pathway.

Rebels Roadshow

The Rebels Roadshow is a programme where the players visit schools to give assembly talks, and deliver exciting basketball taster sessions.

Essex Rebels Reach

Essex Rebels Reach links basketball engagement activities in secondary schools with higher education experience visits.

Rebels Play

Starting from as young as 5 years old, Essex Rebels Play sessions take place at the Essex Sport Arena on Saturday mornings and provides an inclusive introduction to basketball.

Rebels Camp

Taking place during school holidays at the Essex Sport Arena, Essex Rebels holiday camps are for all aspiring basketball stars of the future.
