Our Teams
The Essex Rebels is a big family formed of numerous teams from men’s, women’s and multiple junior teams.
Womens team
The women’s senior team entered the Basketball England National League for the first time in the 2015-16 season as the Essex Blades. The team won the National Cup final at the EIS in Sheffield in that first season in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to score the winning basket with the final score of the game. The team went on to win the Division One title in 2017-18, losing just one game in the whole season.
Following that successful season the team moved from the NBL to the women’s professional league, becoming the 12th team in the WBBL (Women’s British Basketball League) at that time. The Essex Rebels now enter their 4th season in the WBBL now comprising of 13 teams, having had a winning year that saw them make the play offs for the first time as a professional club, and finishing 6th overall the highest the team has achieved since inception. This coming year the team looks to continue to improve on the last and now have their sights set on a top four finish.

Mens teams
Having secured back-to-back promotions in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, the Essex Rebels men will play in the Basketball England National League Division 1 for the first time in 2020-21.
The Essex Rebels men’s second team also play in National League Division 3, providing a development opportunity for young players making their early entry in to senior competition.

Essex Rebels Doubleheader: SLB Women & D1 Men
Join us at the Essex Sport Arena on 22 February for an exciting basketball doubleheader, featuring both the Essex Rebels SLB Women and NBL Division 1 Men’s teams.
The action kicks off at 4 PM, as the Essex Rebels Women take on the Leicester Riders in a highly anticipated Super League Basketball clash. Following their game, the Rebels Men will hit the court at 6:30 PM to face the London Cavaliers in an exciting NBL Division 1 match-up.
This is a fantastic opportunity to experience two competitive games back-to-back and see some of the region’s top basketball talent in action. With plenty of energy and excitement guaranteed, it’s the perfect event for basketball fans, families, and anyone looking for an entertaining evening.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY SPECIAL
Celebrate International Women’s Day with the Rebels at the Essex Sport Arena!
