Junior Club Teams
The Essex Rebels is a big family formed of numerous teams from menâs, womenâs and multiple junior teams.
Under 18’s Men
This is the pinnacle of the clubs pathway, and one of the most exciting junior teams, along with being the longest running junior team that has had a huge amount of success over the years.
Currently competing in the Junior NBL East Conference league for the 2024/25 season.
The Under 18 Men’s team is coached by Essex Rebels NBL D1 Captain, Luke Busumbru.
Luke Busumbruâs debut season with the Essex Rebels has been nothing short of remarkable. He was been named to the NBL 1st Team of the Year as well as British 1st Team of the Year for the 2023/24 season. Lukeâs impact on and off the court has been pivotal in driving the Rebels to their best season yet. Â
We are all excited to see this team in action in the 2024/25 season!

Under 16 Boys
This age group and team, led by coach Aaron Tucker, is one of the clubs longest running teams. It has served as a platform for a number of highly successful junior national league players that have had the opportunity to not only represent the east region, but who have also represented their country. The U16âs have had great success by way of results over the years and continue to be one of the clubs shining lights in the east region. Â
The Under 16 Boys had a fantastic 2023/2024 season finishing 4th place in the league.Â
Currently competing in the Junior NBL East 2 Conference league for the 2024/25 season.

The under 16 girlsâ team are looking to build on their 2023/2024 season and coach Ashton Groves is committed to developing the team further.Â
Womenâs basketball continues to go from strength to strength at Essex Rebels, as the Essex Rebels WBBL Womenâs team continues to inspire our young girls to get involved.Â
Currently competing in the Junior NBL South East Conference 2024/25 seasonÂ

Under 14 Boys
The under 14âs Boys team has strengthened our developmental pathway, and was created due to the enormous amount of participation we saw through our Hoopsters community program. Â
With a 4th place finish in the league 2023/24 season, this yearâs focus is on developing the team, further. We are delighted to welcome Essex Rebels very own Megan Haines, who was named the Womenâs British Basketball League Most Improved Player (MIP) of the 2023/2024 season, as the new under 14 boys coach.Â

Under 14 Girls
This age group is coached by Coach Hayley Rigby, and the team is focused this year on improving on their 5th place finish in the league. This season, the team welcomes a number of new players from our Hoopsters programme, with more and more young girls wanting to play competitively.Â
We look forward to seeing their progress this season.Â
The under 14 girls play in the East Conference league.Â
Under 12 mixed team
Rebels Junior Head Coach Jules Keeling continues to coach our under 12 mixed team for their second season. The team enjoyed success in their first season, 2023/24. finishing 3rd in the league, an amazing achievement for the young players.Â
We are excited to see how the team fairs this season with many of the players progressing into the under 124 boyâs team.  Â
The under 12 mixed team plays in Division VI.Â

The Essex Rebels D2 Men are kicking off 2025 with the only basketball home game of the month! Currently sitting in 10th place, the Rebels are ready to take on the 8th-placed Barnet Bulldogs in what promises to be an intense NBL Division 2 South clash.
