BEN WINTER RETURNS FOR FOURTH SEASON
Ben Winter re-signs to the Essex Rebels for another two years.
The 22-year-old guard returns for his fourth season with the Essex Rebels having established himself as a first-team regular in Coach Norfolk’s NBL Division 1 side. Having recently completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Essex, Ben will now start a master’s degree, committing him to the Essex Rebels for another two years.
Winter is a product of the Ipswich Copleston Basketball Academy, where he was one of the standout players in the U19 Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL), named in the All-South Conference team of the season in 2019/2020. Ben’s impressive performances were rewarded with him being in contention for GB Under-20’s selection at the 2020 European Championships, however, the competition was sadly cancelled due to the pandemic.
The dynamic 6-foot 3 guard contributed to the team with an average of 4.1 points, 2.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game, and led the team in appearances last season, meaning Ben has now accumulated more than 65 NBL games under his belt as an Essex Rebel.
Looking forward to his fourth season with the Rebels, Ben Winter said:
“I’m looking forward to my 4th season with Essex Rebels and I’m excited to be part of the program’s success next year!’’
Ross Norfolk, coach of the Essex Rebels NBL Division 1 team, had this to say about Ben:
“It is great to secure Ben for the next 2 years as he transitions into his master’s degree. Ben has the ability to create for himself and for others off the dribble and is able to guard multiple positions with his length and athleticism. Exciting times ahead for Ben and I’m looking forward to working with him again”
Ben Winter joins Tyreese Hudson as the second Essex Rebels men’s player to return for the upcoming 23/24 season.
