KAT TUDOR JOINS REBELS
Essex Rebels are excited to announce the signing of American guard, Katherine Tudor.
The 25-year-old who comes from Woodbridge, California, joins us from Australian NBL1 West side Mandura Magic, where she averaged 15.6 points per game last season across 22 NBL games, the second highest points average amongst the team.
Tudor had a standout college career at Oregon State University where she completed her full four years with the Beavers, achieving an impressive 8.6 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting at over 40% from three-point range and over 80% from the foul line across 113 appearances.
In her sophomore year, Tudor also received an All-Pac-12 Honorable mention and started all 34 games averaging 12 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Kat would put her name in the history books at Oregon finishing third in all-time three-pointers made and fourth in three-point percentage.
After graduating from Oregon State University in 2020, Katherine turned professional with overseas spells at Gottingen, who play in the Damen Basketball Bundesliga which is the top division in Germany, Cockburn Cougars who play in the NBL in Australia, and Morovis Montaneras in Puerto Rico, meaning Kat brings valuable international experience to Coach Cookson’s side.
The Oregon State alum has built her career as a combo guard who can handle and distribute the ball but her main strength is being a deadly three-point shooter which is sure to thrill Rebel fans when they see Kat live at the Essex Sport Arena.
Speaking about her move to the Essex Rebels, Tudor said:
“I chose Essex because I really enjoy Coach Ashley’s passion for basketball and the additional opportunity that I can study abroad and pursue my master’s degree.”
Head of Basketball Performance, Ashley Cookson, commented on another exciting signing for the Rebels:
“Kat is a proven professional around the world having played win Puerto Rico, Germany and Australia and we’re very happy she’s a Rebel for the 23-24 season. Kat’s ability to play the perimeter at 6ft will be sure to cause match-up problems for our opposition this season. Kat’s global pro experience and love for being in the gym working on her game will be vital for our team’s success this season.”
Welcome to the Rebels Kat!
Tudor joins Renee Busch and Dayzsha Rogan as the Rebel’s third women’s signing as they prepare to upset the reigning WBBL Playoff champions, London Lions, on Saturday 21 October to kick off our WBBL campaign.
