London Lions Explode in Strong Second Half Against Rebels
The Essex Rebels took to the road to face the London Lions this past Friday. The Lions who have sat atop the table all season and captured their first piece of silverware in the Trophy final a few weeks ago were able to use their athleticism and aggressiveness to upend the Rebels.
The first half was a battle, as both teams went back and forth in a chippy game that saw the Lions get three technical fouls for arguing with the referees. The Rebels headed into the half only down two points and hoping to maintain a close margin.
This was unfortunately not the case in the second half, as the Lions exploded for 28 points in the third quarter and held the Rebels to just 11 points in ten minutes. The final quarter saw much the same as the Rebels continued to struggle to get their offence flowing due to disruptive defence by the home team. At the final buzzer the Lions came out on top with a final score of 87-66
Head Coach Tom Sadler had this to say about his team’s performance, “it was a physical game that we fully competed in for 20 minutes. The second half however saw us commit a lot of lapses on both ends of the floor. We committed too many turnovers and didn’t execute on the defensive end. It’s disappointing but we will look ahead and keep trying to get back on track.”
