Alex Chinery

Second year Women’s Head Coach Alex Chinery has risen through the ranks with the Rebels. Joining the programme as a volunteer assistant coach, Coach Chinery worked his way up to leading the Women’s half of the Rebels program. A Super League Final Four appearance and National Cup Semi-Final were fantastic foundational achievements for the Rebels in his first year in charge. The majority of the squad formed the BUCS Squad that made history winning their first ever BUCS Premier South title and almost claiming their elusive first National Championship, falling at the final hurdle.

Since joining the program Coach Chinery has twice been the assistant to former Team USA Women’s Head Coach Mick Haley at the Global Challenge Tournament in Pula, Croatia, bringing home one gold and one silver medal. Coach Chinery also supports the development of junior volleyball in the UK, serving an Assistant Coach on the staff of the U19 Women’s National Team and as the Head Coach of the Eastern Region Volleyball Performance programme, winning three U17 Inter-Regionals medals in the last three years (U17 Men’s Gold in 2022, U17 Men’s and U17 Women’s Bronzes in 2024).
