Rebels Continue Strong Form With Win Over Cardiff
Our Essex Rebels women’s team maintained their impressive momentum with a commanding 74-63 victory over Cardiff Met Archers, securing their fourth win in five games as they push toward the playoffs in 6th place with a 10-8 record.
Maria Blazejewski led the Rebels with an outstanding 25-point performance, shooting an efficient 9-15 from the field and 6-6 on three-pointers, while adding 11 rebounds for a double-double. Lauren Park-Lane contributed 16 points and 5 assists, and Taylor O’Brien added 17 points and 4 rebounds in a balanced team effort.
The Rebels shot 41.5% from the field and 35.3% from beyond the arc, while dominating the boards with a 42-31 rebounding advantage. Their defense proved crucial, forcing 17 turnovers and limiting Cardiff Met to just 43.1% shooting from the field.
For Cardiff Met, Abigail Yunker led all scorers with 21 points and 7 rebounds, while Connie Clark added 19 points and 6 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Rebels’ strong team performance. The victory keeps the Rebels in excellent form heading into the final week of the regular season, with the team now positioned strongly in 6th place as they aim to secure a favourable playoff seeding.
