Rebels Women Fall to League-Leading Oakland Wolves
Our Essex Rebels women’s team faced a significant challenge on the road, falling 104-74 to the league-leading Oaklands Wolves. The hosts, fresh off securing their first piece of silverware after winning the SLB Women’s Cup Final last week, demonstrated why they sit atop the SLBW standings.
Lauren Park-Lane led the Rebels’ effort with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in an energetic performance. Taylor O’Brien added 16 points and 4 rebounds, while Maria Blazejewski contributed 14 points on efficient 8-15 shooting.
Brooke Flowers worked hard in the interior, securing 8 rebounds to go with 7 points, but the Rebels struggled to contain Oaklands’ balanced offensive attack, which saw the hosts shoot an impressive 61.8% from the field.
For Oaklands, six players scored in double figures, led by Shanice Beckford-Norton’s 15 points. Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant added 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Beth Sarson contributed 12 points in a comprehensive team performance.
The Rebels will look to bounce back next weekend when they face another tough test against second-placed Sheffield Hatters at the Essex Sport Arena. Tickets for the game are available on Fanbase.
